Ladybird, Ladybird

I have had to remove several of these cute little beetles from my house this week. The Ladybird naturally finds places to hold up in the winter, and I suppose a warm house is an ideal location. I found this one in my bedroom this morning begging to be photographed. In Italy, it is said by some that if a ladybird flies into one's bedroom, it is considered good luck.

Sweet. I heard elsewhere that they are good luck. And that they like certain color houses. Interesting, and great photo!

I've never heard them referred to as lady "birds." Here in ME, we call them lady "bugs." I guess it's off to wikipedia for me!

I love that HG Wells quote - time, calendar they are only for planning, life is for living not being bound....

We had a ladybug storm at the country church on Sunday, they get in the ceiling and come down through the planking. The 1874 structure is planked inside walls and ceiling. It's an interesting place. And it must be a very lucky one too! I know it is blessed.
Just like my friend Jack :)

Every October/November we find them in the house. The kids use to get mad at me for putting them outside... they are the only bug I don't mind picking up.
