- Saturday watched Niece # 1 at the cheer leading competition. Her team took first place in their devision.
- Saturday night went out for supper with Hubby.
- Sunday had a short visit with my parents. (always interesting!)
- Sunday off to Kent to pick up some lumber for a cradle we are making for the new niece (niece #4), who should be arriving any day now.
- Sunday went to Chapters and bought a new book- Pearls in Vinegar by Heather Mallick. So far it's a delightfully funny book and I got it for a bargain, $5.99.

insomnia + auras = ASS KICKIN' MIGRAINE!
Yesterday after finishing my Friday Fill-Ins... It hit me like a train, it hit me like a freight train.
A migraine is a lot like being hit by a train, except it occurs monthly, and sometimes even weekly. You know it's coming for you, you can hear it, you can see it, then it hits you... WHAAAM!

I spent most of yesterday and all of the evening laying low, hiding in the dark howling like a dog in pain. Today the migraine is gone and all that remains is the hangover (migraine hangover). Only a few little twinges of pain shoot back and forth in my head and I feel just plain awful.
P.s. One day I may post about my experience of when I really was *hit by a train*

Friday Fill-In #65
1. Some relationships are meant to be strong and last forever.
2. Dr. Hook is the last concert I saw; it was (believe it or not) just last year.
3. Spring should be full of colours and life, so why is it snowing today?
4. Oh no! I forgot to turn off the oven/tap/iron/car!
5. I've recently started Friday Fill-Ins.
6. My kids getting along never fails to make me smile.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to some wine and laughter, tomorrow my plans include watching my niece at cheer comp. and Sunday, I want to chill out!

No dreams for me last night
Last night I head up stairs with book in hand around 11:00. I read for a bit, closed my eyes and settled in for the night and just as I'm starting to drift off Hubby pokes his head in the door.
Hubby: Are you asleep yet?
Me: I was trying...
Hubby: Mind if I watch the rest of the game up here?
He plunks down into bed and flicks on the TV. Now I'm fully awake. Arrrrrrrrrg!
Game gets over, he turns off the TV, rolls over and within a matter of minutes he's snoring and I'm next to him just seething. How do men do it? Their head hit the pillow and they're off to dream land.
What is it about the male anatomy that make them snore? At first it starts off with this heavy breathing sound (that just irritates the hell out of me), then tzzz, tzzz, tzzz, t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-sh
So I lay there with one pillow, two, and three over my head but still hear him snoring. Look over at the clock and it's 1:38am. Then I gently roll him over to a different position and it works for about 30 seconds then t-t-t-t-tzzzz-tzzzz. Lay there for a while longer, look at the clock and it's 2:15am. Then this time I'm not so gentle, I boot him in the ass. He wakes up long enough to say "What's wrong?" then he's back asleep and there is silence for a bit so I lay my head back down willing sleep to come quickly but no luck. T-shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh-T-shh
hmmmmm, would he be able to breath if a cram a sock in there?
Yeah, he can still breath through his nose can't he?
I don't know, maybe he can't. What if he can't and he suffocates?
Then you might be able to finally get some sleep!
Try it, and if he stops breathing, just pull it out.
and so on.
5:30Am, Asshole my lovely neighbor across the street starts up his Harley, revs it for 25 min. and starts off down my street.

The Facebook Mary-go-round...
won’t let me get off!
Around this time last year I signed up for a Facebook (FB)account for the simple reason, I needed a place to post my photos of my parents 40th wedding anniversary party so people who attended and the people who were not able to make the party could go to view the photos. Little did know at the time I would be selling my soul to the "Facebook" devil.
In the beginning FB was great because I could get in-touch with old school pals and catch up on gossip with family I don't get to see very often. I loved it! I was so addicted and would log onto FB at least twice a day just to lurk and check out profile updates and photo albums. Now I'm suck on the FB marry-go-round and can't get off.
This past weekend was a busy weekend and I didn't have a lot of time to spend on my pc. Logging onto FB to check my messages was on my to-do list but things kept popping up that needed my attention first and I wasn't able to check FB. Saturday while in the supermarket getting some Easter shopping done, my Baby Sister comes strutting down the aisle...
Her: Did you get my message?
Me: No, what message?
Her: I left you a message on Facebook this morning, didn't you check your messages?
Me: I wasn’t even on my computer today, was it something important?
Turns out the message wasn't all that important but when she left I was left dumbfounded standing in the aisle of the grocery store thinking "why didn't she call me?" This isn't the first time this has happened either. Come to think of it, my kids (one in particular) do the same thing.
Priss: Why didn't you pick my up at 6:00?
Me: Because you told me you were finished class at 7:00
Priss: No I didn't! I left you a message on Facebook saying I would be out an hour early!
I don't want to check my Facebook for messages every day. I've told people countless times that I don't check FB everyday, so don't bother leaving me messages but still day after day I receive at least 5+ messages. So day after day I log on to Facebook to check. I would like to be able to just turn off the message feature but FB doesn't give that option. I want to go back to the old fashioned method of giving and receiving information... The telephone or in person.

Celebrating Spring

Feeling wistful today
This winter has been particularly long and cold and I am quite anxious for it to be over! I'm not sure what the temperature is on this mid March morning but it feels like around... -FREEZE YOUR DAMN ASS OFF!
These past couple of weeks all I have been able to think about is warm sunshine and the day when we can exchange our winter parkas, hats, gloves and boots for tanks, shorts and flip-flops.
Today I'm thinking of dinner at a good restaurant, walking along the waterfront and patio parties at The Lower Deck.
(picture this: The band takes to the stage and starts playing a familiar tune. The crowd immediately starts clapping, singing and dancing along. In between songs, the lead singer shouts ((Sociable)), a signal for everyone to call it back ((Sociable)) as friends and strangers raise a glass and share a drink.)

Monday Monday, so good to me....
First off...Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
There was an Old Lady of Chertsey,
Who made a remarkable curtsey;
She twirled round and round,
Till she sunk underground,
Which distressed all the people of Chertsey.
Weekend recap... with photos
Friday night
Baby Sister's martini night was a blast to say the least. We ate, we drank and we laughed and played asomewhat heated game of trivial pursuit. There were only a few family members who attended, seven in total including myself.
Saturday
Saturday was a nasty day. The snow started falling around 10:00AM and didn't stop 'till around 1:00AM. We did manage to get out and do our grocery shopping despite the slippery roads but decided to forgo the movie until next weekend (hopefully the weather will co-operate).
Sunday
It was Baby Sister's birthday and we went out to Mezza for her birthday supper. The food was fantastic!, we ate 'till we were stuffed. We also polished off two bottles of the most delicious wine, Ksara(a Lebanese wine) and Madonna(a German Reisling). Baby Sis had a great time and I'm so happy she loved her gift (a printer).

Busy weekend ahead
Well, it's Friday and this week sure did fly by fast. This weekend is Baby Sisters birthday weekend and she is having a martini party tonight to kick-off the celebration. I must say, I'm not really in the mood for martinis right now but I'm sure when 7:00pm rolls around I will be rearing to go.
Saturday is going to be business as usual. Shopping, errands and possibly a movie with hubby...Not sure what we will see, possibly Doomsday or There Will Be Blood.
Sunday is Baby Sisters birthday and the family will be helping her celebrate by going out to dinner. It's somewhat of a tradition to pick a restaurant she's never been to and this year we are going to Mezza, an authentic Lebanese restaurant that specializes in appetizer size portions.... Yum, looking forward to this meal!
So, that's my weekend in a nut shell.

I'm Snowblind
"I'm snowblind, I can't see a thing, I'm snowblind, I don't wanna sing
I'm snowblind, need a familiar face, I'm snowblind, think I'm lost in space".....Ace Frehley
I'm spending most of my day looking for diversions... Maybe I will hit the travel sites and spend my morning wishing I were on a beach in some sunny tropical paradise, sipping a fruity drink (something that includes coconut), feeling a warm tropical breeze blow through my hair, and warm sand between my toes.....humming the tune Kokomo...
Afternoon delight
cocktails and moonlit nights
That dreamy look in your eye
Give me a tropical contact high
Way down in Kokomo
Ahhhhhhhhh!!!
Humph!!! Today is March 13th and I woke to see a couple feet of snow had fallen. I am soooooooo done with winter!
