Thanks for all the great questions!
1. Where are you?
In my media room.
2. Where would you like to spend your retirement?
I plan to stay right here in Nova Scotia. Our (hubby and myself) plan is to buy a little house somewhere in the countryside, preferably near a beach, spending lots of time gardening and treasure hunting by the shore.
3. did y'all do the "mummering" this year (and did I spell mummering right)?
"Mummering" is actually a very old Newfoundland tradition that dates back to the time of the earliest settlers who came to Newfoundland from Ireland.
I believe the custom goes: Usually on December 26th, people would disguise themselves with old articles of clothing and visit the homes of their friends and neighbours. They would even cover their faces with a hood, scarf, mask or pillowcase to keep their identity hidden. Men would sometimes dress as women and women as men. They would go from house to house, bringing along their own musical instruments to play, sing and dance in every house they visited. The host and hostess of these 'mummers parties' would serve food and drink.
When Mummers visit everyone in the house starts playing a guessing game. They try to guess the identity of each Mummer. As each person is identified they uncover their faces, but if their true identity is not guessed they do not have to unmask.
I have never participated in mummering but I have heard many stories from my husband's grandmother, who was born and raised in Newfoundland.
4. Why is the 40th such a big deal?
I don't know why the 40th is such a big deal for some people. I know for me, the last thing I wanted to do was party. Turning 40 was very tough for me, but some people (my sister) like to have a big celebration for their 40th.
(Later this week I will share some party photos)
5. Have you ever tried positive affirmations, and if so, do they work?
Aside from the affirmations I have used when I tried the "Emotional Freedom Technique", I have never tried using positive affirmations.
6. Do you daydream?
All the time. Possibly too much.
7. What are you passionate about?
Love, family, being creative... just to name a few things.
8. What is better, if you had a choice: stability or adventure?
While I do enjoy a good old adventure every now and again... I would have to choose "stability".
9. Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome, or other?
Firefox. I tried Chrome and had nothing but problems.
10. How do/would you share your creativity with others?
I share some of my creativity right here through my blog :)
11. What one thing are you exceptionally good at?
*pats herself on the back*
Being a mom.
12. If you could master one skill what would it be?
Photography. All different techniques and styles.
