This morning while doing the dishes, looking out my kitchen window I noticed this gorgeous Maple tree with bright red leaves. I grabbed my camera, my cup of tea then headed outside to get a closer look. I sat on a rock sipping my tea, watching the leaves as they danced in the breeze, on occasion one would shake loose and flutter down. The ground around the rock I was sitting on was covered by leaves of all different colours, reds, orange, yellow, brown... I was so caught up in the moment - it was beautiful and yet sad at the same time.

that's a worthwhile sight to get lost over. beautiful!
beautiful days and places - autumn adds color as nature joins in the blitz
that's so fab jack!
the 'sad' part...that's exactly how i feel when i watch the progression of colours the trees go thru. Each day, they are a little more breathtaking, but there's always a little twinge, knowing that eventually they'll all be gone...it makes me dread the windy days, cos i know that will speed their demise.
Thank you for making me think and appreciate them a little more today...
I get that, too; autumn is both one of the most beautiful and melancholy seasons there is.
Thistle, I'm right there with you - I dread the windy days.
Jack - lovely post and nice photo!
Wow - gorgeous! This is my favorite time of year....but it's sad that it's so fleeting.
Beauiful photo and I love the melancholy mood of the post. Especially how you take the time to sit and just enjoy the moment, knowing the leaves will be gone soon.
