Weekend Update - eBay bidding, TLR Cameras, TtV

Happy Monday...What's new with you?
I spent the weekend surfing though eBay, bidding on cameras only to get outbid at the very last seconds. I really don't have a clue how eBay works so if you do a lot of shopping on eBay, and can offer any helpful tips, I will gladly take them.

Anyway, I was looking to get my hands on one or two of these babies...

The name of the camera doesn't matter, just as long as the camera is a TLR (twin lens reflex). And because I'm cheap frugal these days - it has to be fairly inexpensive. I'm looking to alter the camera a little by duct taping it to one of these contraptions...
It's a viewfinder contraption needed to take TtV (through the viewfinder) photography. It means taking a picture of any subject through the viewfinder of any camera with another camera.

Here are some of my favs of TtV from Flickr users I admire...
Sky TTV (Catherine)/ Seeing faces (Marko Kosovcevic)
Welcome to the past ( Marko Kosovcevic)/ savoy (lowrevolution)
ttv1 cottonwood (bob merco)/ Wood (Russ Morris)

Ps: Remember to drop me a note if you have any eBay tips for bidding on items :)

Hey there - Have you saved any searches on ebay? You can have saved searches sent to your email address, which means you don't have to scroll through tons of stuff.

Then when you're bidding, at the first bid, make sure you bid as high as you'll possibly go and leave it. It's helpful to go into completed auctions for a sample item to find out what the average is for end prices to figure out what you're likely to pay.

If you're patient, usually you can get what you want at the price you want to pay.

I haven't had very good luck on eBay, so I won't offer any advice.

I don't quite get this TtV thing. It's interesting, the shots are interesting...it seems to be all the rage. Can you enlighten me? (do I sound like a curmudgeon??)

Thanks Movie... I have a bid a a couple nice cameras - the waiting is the hardest part :)

Thanks Amber, If I don't win my bids this time around, I'll keep trying 'till I get one.

Terri - I'm sure you understand the process... what you would like to know is what the appeal is? right?

For me, I like the way the capture that give off that retro look... just a different perspective.

Yay, I got one!
But I didn't do the bid thing... I just found a "pay now" camera on eBay and did it that way.

I really don't have the patience for this eBay bidding, and waiting - I want it and I want it NOW! hehe!
